A new study published in The Journal of Sex Research describes the development of eSense TRANScend, an adaptation of eSense designed specifically for transgender women. Working with transgender women and community partners, researchers at Boston University adapted both the CBT and mindfulness-based treatment arms included in the eSense program, to better reflect trans women’s experiences, including the effects of gender-affirming care, gender identity and dysphoria, diverse anatomy and relationships, and sexual pleasure. Future research will evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of the adapted program.
